Apply For The Trust & Safety Hackathon – July 9, 2023

The Trust & Safety Hackathon is happening July 10! Applications are now open to participate in the first (but not the last) hashtag#trustandsafety hackathon designed by and for T&S. The site is now live at https://tshackathon.org.

This all started after I posted a simple statement on LinkedIn calling for a T&S hackathon. That post saw 200k+ views (!) and helped me connect with 80+ organizers who have been dedicating their time and expertise to build this from scratch. I’m beyond excited. The organizers and I will be sharing more info and updates (on LinkedIn and on the tshackathon.org website) as we get closer to the event but here are some of the basics:

– Applications are now open. The deadline to apply is Friday June 9 so be sure to act fast. Visit tshackathon.org to apply.

– Each T&S Hackathon will have a different theme and prompt. The inaugural event’s prompt is “How can hashtag#AI be used to better protect all users across platforms?”

– You can participate in-person at the San Francisco event (the day before TrustCon) or remotely.

– Thanks to the generous support from William and Flora Hewlett FoundationActiveFence, and Tremau, the hackathon is free to everyone.

– Thank you to  Alice Goguen Hunsberger Theodoros Evgeniou Noam Schwartz Michael Parker Katie Dunn Charlotte Willner, and  Eli Sugarman for really leaning in to drive the Steering Committee. You are all rock stars (follow them if you don’t already!)

– To ensure equitable and open access, we’ve provided several ways to participate. Be sure to visit the website to learn more.
